Some of the amentities and activities include: 3 playscapes, train rides, carousel, ampitheater, catch and release fishing, remote controlled boats, gymnasium where you can play basketball, volleyball and tennis, walking path around the lake, water play areas, off road adventure ride, music garden, swings, sand circle, gift shops, and a sensory village with pretend grocery shopping, theater, stable and much more.  This place really has everything you could imagine to complete a fun filled day with your kids and family!

Fishing For Manners

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Thanks Deanna for such a creative way to make a game with the kiddos.  Wanted to make sure and share with everyone!

Write down 6 good manners and 6 bad manners on a sheet of paper.  Cut them out so that you now have 12 pieces of paper (or 12 manners to place inside the cups).

Take 2 styrofoam cups and write “good” one one cup and “bad” on the other.

Take construction paper, draw pictures of fish and cut them out.  Write the “good” and “bad” manners on the fish.  Take a paperclip and put them through the mouth of the fish.  Make a fishing rod with a pencil, string, and kitchen magnet.

Place all the manner fish in a large bowl.  Let your child fish for a manner.  When they catch a fish read the manner outloud and have them decide if it is a “good” manner or a “bad” manner.  Have him put the fish in the correct cup.

You could also do this with letters on a cup and the fish could have words that start with the letters.  This would make for a great activity on a rainy day!  Thanks again Deanna.  Go FISH!

Heart Shaped Crayons…or any shape you want

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Found a cool craft that is easy, inexpensive, fun for kids to help and makes for great party favors for little kiddos.  You don’t have to do heart shaped crayons, but since it was February and this was what tins my friend found at Target that is what she used.

All you do is buy disposable muffin tins (heart, easter bunny, carrot, etc.) and a large box of crayons.  Peel each crayon making sure all paper is off of the crayon (use an exacto knife down the wrapper to make it faster to get the paper off).  Break the crayons into 4-5 pieces each and place all colors of crayons into the muffin tins.

Load the tins with the crayons and bake on 275 until things start to get gooey.  Let them cool and then peel off the tins.  You have precious shaped crayons to give to friends and for your kids to use at home.  So cute!  Thanks Ang and Robin for the idea!

Lifetime Fitness Spa

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

I could write a lot of wonderful things about Lifetime Fitness.  This facility is like a 2nd home to me and my children.  Not just for exercising either.  We love their cafe, their basketball courts, rock wall and swimming pools.  But there is a secret I learned today about Lifetime Fitness that EVERYONE must know!

Whether you are a member or not of Lifetime Fitness you are able to use their spa facility (manicures, pedicures, hair cut/color, massages, facials, waxing, etc.) and they offer FREE childcare for up to 2 hours!  Yes, I typed that correctly.  You DO NOT have to be a member to drop your kids off for FREE while you get pampered for a minute!!!!!  So many of us Savvy Mommas have a hard time even fitting in time to get our hair cut because we can’t figure out when our husbands will be home to watch them while the salon is still open.  I LOVE this secret and thought it wasn’t fair if only I knew about it.  So….remember next time you are needing any spa treatments to book it at Lifetime Fitness Spa and you have FREE childcare for up to 2 hours.  Can’t beat that!!!

Take The Time…Are You Ready?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

As I mourn the loss of a very close family friend (my Godparent’s son), I wanted to remind each of you to live each day to it’s fullest.  Don’t let the small things ruin a friendship or get in the way of a relationship.  Let bygones be bygones and cherish the one’s you love.   Tragedy can strike at any time.  Only God knows when it is your time to go.  Only question I have for you…are you ready?

Trust in the Lord your God for He is good.  My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.  I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.  When darkeness hides His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace.  In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.  On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

No Greater Love

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: that one lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.” John 15:12-14

Jesus commands us in these verses to love each other as He loves us. That is a high calling! Then He continues to say that the greatest love we can show is to lay down our lives for our friends. He loves us so much that that is precisely what He did for us….He laid down His life for us so that we may have life. I love the words to the song Lead Me To The Cross:

                        Lead me to the cross,

                        Where Your love poured out.

                        Bring me to my knees,

                        Lord I lay me down.

                        Rid me of myself

                        I belong to You.

Lead me, lead me to the cross.

Christ poured out His love for us on the cross. He commands us, if we are to be His followers, His disciples, to lay down our lives for Him. If we are His friend, we will do just as He commands. We will give up our selfish, prideful selves to gain life in Him. If we do not lay down our lives and turn all control over to Him, how can we say that we love Jesus just as He loves us? If we cannot or will not turn our lives entirely over to Him, we will never know true love. If we do not know God, we do not know Love. Because God is Love (1 John 4:8). The two cannot truly exist apart from one another. We cannot love others the way Jesus calls us to love if we do not know Him and love Him. It is sacrificial love. Have you laid down your life for Christ? If you have not, you do not know what love He is speaking of. You have never experienced the greatest, most freeing love imaginable. If you have laid down your life for Him and denied yourself to follow hard after Him above everything else, you are experiencing the most amazing love there is: a deep, undying love for Jesus. Love that will literally bring you to your knees!

Heavenly Father, bring us to our knees and teach us to love just as you love us! May we experience true Love, which cannot exist apart from You because You are Love. Thank you for showing us what real love is through Your Son Jesus, who laid down His life for us. Thank You for being madly in love with us and desiring us to be madly in love with You! And Lord, once we fall head over heals in love with You, teach us to love others with the same sacrificial love. We love you. Amen.

Grace To You

Monday, February 8th, 2010

“Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

Jesus died for you and me an agonizing death on a cross. He did this as a man. A man who was tempted by everything we are tempted by and more. He experienced every temptation that you and I have ever faced. But in those temptations, He never sinned. So in verse 16 of chapter 4 in the book of Hebrews, Jesus calls us to draw near to His throne of grace with confidence. Amazing, huh? With confidence? Because Jesus experienced human temptation, He stands ready at the “throne of grace” to give immediate and sympathetic aid when we are tempted to enter into sin.

Grace is defined as “that which a person is not entitled to by law, but which is extended to him as favor.” However, grace is NOT your license to freely and purposely sin, but instead is the very act of Christ that FREES us from the bondage of sin. We deserve death. Jesus died for us. We deserve condemnation. Jesus bore that for us. We deserve to live in bondage. Jesus freed us from that.

God has given us and continues to give us unending grace and mercy through the death of His only Son, Jesus Christ. We too are called to be like Christ, to take on His characteristics, to strive to be like Him. We cannot do this on our own, so He further gifted us with the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17). Therefore, we are also called to give grace, just as it has so freely been given to us. (Let me quickly point out the difference between grace and mercy: grace is receiving a pardon we do not deserve; mercy is not receiving the punishment we deserve.)

So now I ask you: do you extend grace to those people you are in daily contact with? Your husband? Your children? Your friends? Your enemies? We are called to do just that. Give grace to others and to extend that grace without limits. “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32. We often ‘run out’ of grace for others, particularly those we love the most, like our spouses and children. Does God ever ‘run out’ of grace for us? Never. Christ is continually interceding for us. We are called to be imitators of Christ, and that includes giving unending grace to one another. Practice giving others grace this week and experience the blessings that can be reaped from it.

Heavenly Father, teach us what Your grace truly means. Help us to know deep in our hearts that You have fully extended Your grace to us through Jesus Christ, Your only Son. Then, Lord, teach us how to love one another in the same way You love us and have called us to love, extending grace to one another and forgiving others just as You have forgiven us. Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit to guide us in giving that unending grace to those people You have blessed our lives with. Amen.

Snack Ideas For Your Kids

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

I am sure your house already is filled with great food to munch on tonight for the Super Bowl, but I wanted to make sure and leave you with 2 new easy recipes my friend Dawn sent me.  You may not get around to getting these together for tonights football party, but these recipes are worth writing down and saving for your next party you have…especailly if kids will be invited too :)   Happy healthy snack foods that you will enjoy.  Thanks Dawn!

Frozen Banana Pops:                                                                                                                                                                                          banana cut in half, popsicle sticks, peanut butter, any chopped nuts, coconut, granola or rice krispie for the topping

Spread peanut butter on half of the banana, roll in favorite topping, put popsicle stick through one end of banana, freeze for 3-5 hrs.  When you freeze them you may want to place them on wax paper.  Delicious!

Fish In A Pond:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      1 container of whipped cream cheese, blue food coloring, goldfish crackers, celery sticks

Add 5 -8 drops of food coloring to cream cheese, pour into shallow soup bowl, arrange goldfish around the cream cheese, use the celery stalks as fishing poles to retrieve the fish.  Oh so fun!
