Wild Olive Tees

Friday, August 27th, 2010

I cannot take credit for finding these precious t-shirts but a friend of mine always has on the cutest tees with the sweetest sayings.  She posted her favorite web site this morning on facebook and I couldn’t wait to take a look.  Now I know where she gets all of her precious tees!!  http://wildolivetees.com is the place to go!  They sell women’s classic and fitted tees and children’s tees.  All of them are wonderfully made with cute designs and sweet scripture or parts of a bible verse.  These are also a great idea to get your friend for a birthday gift.  Something they won’t find locally and not everyone will be wearing them.  Get your verse on…literally!  Read it, wear it and share the word of God!

Putting a Twyst on Beauty

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

After having my hair cut at the same salon for the last 4 years, I decided it was time to branch out and try somewhere new.  A friend of mine always has the best hair cuts and color so I called her to find out where she was going.  I owe her a big “thank you” because this morning I had the pleasure of being pampered at Twyst and spent half of what I was spending at the other salon I was going to.

Kelly Waclawczyk and Marissa Alexander are the owners of Twyst, which is located at The Oasis Salon Suites & Spa.  1826 N. Loop 1604 W, studio 37.  Kelly specializes in hair and Marissa does hair and is also a make up artist.  I love my hair cut, the products they used on my hair and was able to get waxed there too!  They do it all for a fraction of the price you might be spending at your current salon and the atmosphere was just perfect.

Contact them today to schedule your appointment at 210-493-2221.  You will soon find a new hair stylist that does it even better than where you are going today!  http://twystsa.com

Great party favor idea!

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

I took my kids to a birthday party last week and was so impressed with the party favor.  I just had to share with all of you and give props to my friend Sara for coming up with this.  My kids each got a $5 Gift Certificate to Barnes and Noble Bookstore.  The girls card has Fancy Nancy on it and the boys had pirates.  I just loved the idea of giving something the kids could actually use to pick out what they wanted, it gave me an outing to take them to the bookstore and encourages reading and the value of money.  Clearly, most books cost more than $5 so it helped my kids understand the value of what they had been given as a gift as well as what money we used to put towards the book they had chosen.  This didn’t take much effort on Sara’s part in regards to having to make special gifts for each kid either.  I am so appreciative of her generous party favor and thankful that we have discovered a new place to have an outing…the bookstore!  My kids love Barnes and Noble now!

You could probably do this at your local book store too!  Thanks Sara for inspiring me to be more creative with the gifts I give kids rather than just another bottle of bubbles:)

Sarah Janes

Small Tote-small oilcloth tote I have become friends with someone who is super talented with minkee, oilcloth and much more!  http://sarah-janes.com is the site that has some great gift ideas, back to school things for your kids and all of it is so stinkin’ cute.  I can’t decide what to oder and what not to order.  I love it all!

Chalk Oilcloth Table Cloth-Chalk Cloth Table Cloth, oilcloth, sarahjanesThis chalk oilcloth table cloth is so perfect for kids to create what they want on the cloth and then you just wipe it up and start again.  It retails for $25.00 and would make for a great gift for a friend or to give to Grandma’s house for something fun and new to do.  I also really love this camo tote she carries.  All of her stuff can be monogrammed too.  Check out her website to see all of Sarah’s work and items she has to offer.  She is a local business woman from right here in the hill country and I know she would love some more local customers.

Summer is HERE!!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

It is only the 2nd day of summer and my kids are already driving me CRAZY!  It doesn’t help that they have been running fevers the past 2 days, but the days are creeping by.  So…it is time for some summer suggestions.  Write in with your favorite activity to do with your kids during the summer to help the days go by!  Then I can take all of the suggetions and write a blog about new ideas for all of us Savvy Mommas to do.

We have already baked cupcakes, painted pictures and been swimming like crazy.  New ideas needed PLEASE!

The Gypsy Couture

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Probably the most unique and fun party and shopping idea I have seen in a long time!  This is worth checking out and planning your next girls night out.  The Gypsy Couture is a traveling boutique that brings along the latest fashion and trends right to your home.  All you have to do is schedule your next girls night, book Gypsy Couture and then shop away!  The Gypsy Couture shows up in an old vintage trailer that has been remodeled on the inside to be a boutique.  It even has a dressing room!  Tons of cute and affordable clothes to try on right at your door step.

If you are looking for a new night out and want to make sure all your friends will have a blast, grab a couple bottles of wine, your best friends and call Gypsy Couture to bring all the latest fashions!  Such a creative idea.  Check them out!!!

Morgans’ Wonderland

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I am sure each of you has seen the commercial for Morgan’s Wonderland…opening in 39 days.  This place is amazing!  If you haven’t seen the commercial I wanted to be sure to make sure you heard about this great new park.

The park was inspired by Gordon Hartman’s daughter, Morgan, who is disabled.  The mission of Morgan’s Wonderland is to set a new standard for excellence in providing outdoor recreational opportunities for individuals with disabilities.  But, the park is open to the entire public.  The park sits on 25 acres and has numerous things to offer for everyone to enjoy.  You can literally spend an entire day there exploring all there is to offer.

Some of the amentities and activities include: 3 playscapes, train rides, carousel, ampitheater, catch and release fishing, remote controlled boats, gymnasium where you can play basketball, volleyball and tennis, walking path around the lake, water play areas, off road adventure ride, music garden, swings, sand circle, gift shops, and a sensory village with pretend grocery shopping, theater, stable and much more.  This place really has everything you could imagine to complete a fun filled day with your kids and family!

Check out their website to learn more and remember to make reservations before each visit.  This is a place you won’t want to miss!  http://morganswonderland.com.

Heart Shaped Crayons…or any shape you want

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Found a cool craft that is easy, inexpensive, fun for kids to help and makes for great party favors for little kiddos.  You don’t have to do heart shaped crayons, but since it was February and this was what tins my friend found at Target that is what she used.

All you do is buy disposable muffin tins (heart, easter bunny, carrot, etc.) and a large box of crayons.  Peel each crayon making sure all paper is off of the crayon (use an exacto knife down the wrapper to make it faster to get the paper off).  Break the crayons into 4-5 pieces each and place all colors of crayons into the muffin tins.

Load the tins with the crayons and bake on 275 until things start to get gooey.  Let them cool and then peel off the tins.  You have precious shaped crayons to give to friends and for your kids to use at home.  So cute!  Thanks Ang and Robin for the idea!
