Summer is ALMOST here!!

Friday, May 11th, 2012

This Savvy Mommas has been MIA!!!  Between moving houses, family vacation, spring tball schedule and school activities I feel like I am not able to keep up.  Does this mean I am ready for summer?!?!?  YES!  Am I ready to have my kids home everyday??  Well…maybe not everyday, but I am really looking forward to this summer.  I love having neighbors that my kids can play with right outside our door.  I’m looking forward to swimming and enjoying the chaotic schedules with 3 kids.  And I am secretly hoping that my kids will learn how to sleep in.  It’s a dream but I know one day they will :)

Summer is almost here and my prayer is that all of us mommas start talking to God EVERYDAY!  Asking for patience, sweet time with our kids, new memories to be made and for God to be present in our daily lives as we get to spend quality time with our family this summer.  Enjoy your kids.  Don’t think of them as a chore.  Get down on their level and play games with them, do a puzzle, color a picture, play catch, do handstands in the front yard.  You will find that if you take the time to invest in your kids lives, it will enrich your own life in the most amazing way.  Put God first in all that you do!  He will take care of the rest.  Happy Summer and good luck!

Still Water Sports Camp

Monday, March 19th, 2012

The Lord leads us beside still waters (Psalm 23:3) to a place of peace and away from the chaos of everyday life.

Wouldn’t you agree with me that teens today are up against bigger mountains than we ever had to face growing up?  Times have changed, things are harder and our children are facing a world that is almost impossible to live in, unless they chose a life with God.

Still Water Sports Camp is an over night, Christ-centered, sports, adventure and leadership camp open to anyone ages 8-18. They rent facilities in Blanco, Columbus, and Leakey Texas for summer camps.

“Our desire is to provide quality sports training lead by middle school, high school and college coaches.  Whether a student has never participated in a sport before or plays that sport year round, we want to come alongside them and challenge them to grow their fundamental skills, teamwork, and knowledge of the game. But that is not all. We believe in a combination of mind, body and soul, so at the same time, we want to teach campers the importance of God in their lives.”

Staff is made up of high school and college athletes and students who love kids and just want to make them feel comfortable. They can be a wild and crazy bunch who love to put on costumes and dance, but also have their eyes open to make sure everyone is included. They are our greatest asset, and above all they love God and want to allow our campers to experience His love.

Still Water Sports Camp is looking for campers this summer!  You can register online at http://stillwatersportscamp.com.  Maybe you know a friend or neighbor that would be interested in sending their child to one of the camps or you would be interested in supporting this non-profit organization?  Please join me in prayer for Still Water Sports camp and help spread the word about this awesome organization!

What to do on a rainy day…

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Have a tea party with your daughter

Try a new recipe

Make a craft

Watch a movie under the covers with popcorn

Get lost in a good book

Organize a closet

Thank God for the rain!!!  And enjoy SLOWING down.  So many of us Savvy Mommas are running all over town and trying hard to keep up with everything we have going in our lives.  Suggestion for the day….enjoy the day.  Watch the rain.  Relish in the little moments with your kids.  Take time for yourself.  Read your bible and spend time alone with God.  It will fill your soul and renew your faith.

Hill Country Sitters

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

I am sooooo excited to announce that one of my kids favorite babysitters and her friends have started a business in the Hill Country area called Hill Country Sitters.  If you are looking for reliable, honest, loving and passionate people to babysit, pet sit and help with your family…PLEASE call Hill Country Sitters.

Kristen Lewis and Aubri Reed have formed a business that is honestly catered to EVERYTHING you could be looking for in a babysitter service.  These 2 ladies love God first, love children and are dedicated to taking care of your kids needs while you enjoy much needed time away.

Hill Country Sitters philosophy:

“We believe that children are a gift (Psalm 127:3) and our job is to help you in any way we can and assist you in taking care of your children. We understand that being a parent is the hardest job in the world, and there is no off time. Here at Hill Country Sitters we want to give parents a break, wheather it be for a night out with friends, spending time with your spouse, or running errands.

We also know what makes a great sitter. All of our sitters are First Aid/CPR certified, we want you to have peace of mind when you leave you most precious gifts in our care. We are here not only to take great care of your kids, but have a blast with them! We want them to enjoy everything childhood has to offer!

As for your pets, we know how special they are to you! All of our sitters are pet owners! We understand that pets are a part of your family and they need love, care, and attention just like we do.

Hill Country Sitters is here to help in whatever way we can, our goal is to make your life a little easier by doing what we enjoy doing on a day to day basis, taking care of and keeping a home, caring for children, and playing with pets!”

Spring Weather in January!?!?!?

Friday, January 20th, 2012

Well, isn’t this a funny suprise God sent us this week?  Highs in the 80′s in the afternoons!  I don’t even know how to dress my children.  There is a cool breeze in the mornings and warm in the afternoons.  They will look a bit silly if they show up in flip flops and sleeveless tops…BUT, I don’t really mind.  They look darling and won’t complain about being hot anymore.  So, if you see my kids sporting summer clothes just laugh on while you are sweating in your winter clothes even when it’s 80 degrees.  At least we’ll be comfortable :) Here’s to living in Texas in the Winter!!
The scary thing is that my kids are already complaining about being HOT!!!  What the heck are they going to think when we hit July????
