Still Water Sports Camp

Monday, March 19th, 2012

The Lord leads us beside still waters (Psalm 23:3) to a place of peace and away from the chaos of everyday life.

Wouldn’t you agree with me that teens today are up against bigger mountains than we ever had to face growing up?  Times have changed, things are harder and our children are facing a world that is almost impossible to live in, unless they chose a life with God.

Still Water Sports Camp is an over night, Christ-centered, sports, adventure and leadership camp open to anyone ages 8-18. They rent facilities in Blanco, Columbus, and Leakey Texas for summer camps.

“Our desire is to provide quality sports training lead by middle school, high school and college coaches.  Whether a student has never participated in a sport before or plays that sport year round, we want to come alongside them and challenge them to grow their fundamental skills, teamwork, and knowledge of the game. But that is not all. We believe in a combination of mind, body and soul, so at the same time, we want to teach campers the importance of God in their lives.”

Staff is made up of high school and college athletes and students who love kids and just want to make them feel comfortable. They can be a wild and crazy bunch who love to put on costumes and dance, but also have their eyes open to make sure everyone is included. They are our greatest asset, and above all they love God and want to allow our campers to experience His love.

Still Water Sports Camp is looking for campers this summer!  You can register online at http://stillwatersportscamp.com.  Maybe you know a friend or neighbor that would be interested in sending their child to one of the camps or you would be interested in supporting this non-profit organization?  Please join me in prayer for Still Water Sports camp and help spread the word about this awesome organization!

Hill Country Sitters

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

I am sooooo excited to announce that one of my kids favorite babysitters and her friends have started a business in the Hill Country area called Hill Country Sitters.  If you are looking for reliable, honest, loving and passionate people to babysit, pet sit and help with your family…PLEASE call Hill Country Sitters.

Kristen Lewis and Aubri Reed have formed a business that is honestly catered to EVERYTHING you could be looking for in a babysitter service.  These 2 ladies love God first, love children and are dedicated to taking care of your kids needs while you enjoy much needed time away.

Hill Country Sitters philosophy:

“We believe that children are a gift (Psalm 127:3) and our job is to help you in any way we can and assist you in taking care of your children. We understand that being a parent is the hardest job in the world, and there is no off time. Here at Hill Country Sitters we want to give parents a break, wheather it be for a night out with friends, spending time with your spouse, or running errands.

We also know what makes a great sitter. All of our sitters are First Aid/CPR certified, we want you to have peace of mind when you leave you most precious gifts in our care. We are here not only to take great care of your kids, but have a blast with them! We want them to enjoy everything childhood has to offer!

As for your pets, we know how special they are to you! All of our sitters are pet owners! We understand that pets are a part of your family and they need love, care, and attention just like we do.

Hill Country Sitters is here to help in whatever way we can, our goal is to make your life a little easier by doing what we enjoy doing on a day to day basis, taking care of and keeping a home, caring for children, and playing with pets!”

Practicing patterns

Yes! Cranberry Relish and Turkey Season is approaching!

On that fine Turkey Day when all are busily baking…keep your children merrily making with a simple cranberry and popcorn garland.
Lay out a bowl of cranberries for each garland maker and a big bowl of popcorn in the center of the table for all to share.  Thread a long piece of dental floss onto a large, fat needle (little hands may need some supervision).

Now, you know the routine…cranberry, cranberry, cranberry, popcorn, popcorn, cranberry, cranberry, cranberry… and so it goes.  Have your child create her own garland pattern.

Go outside and find the perfect tree upon which to lay your Thanksgiving Bird Feast.  Your child will be particularly thrilled they get to feed the cold little birdies while you all indulge in the cranberry sauce and stuffing inside.

Thanks SMMARTideas.blogspot.com for the idea!

Go to http://www.groupon.com and get the daily deal!!!!  You won’t want to miss out on attending this year’s Ole Market!

The holidays bring loved ones together to exchange gifts, hang decorations, and test whose gravy recipe tastes best with a candy cane. Feel the first glow of the season with today’s Groupon: for $15, you get two multi-day shopping passes (a $30 value) to the Holiday Olé Market, presented by the Junior League of San Antonio. The Groupon is valid during general shopping hours on Thursday, October 20; Friday, October 21; and Saturday, October 22. The Junior League of San Antonio hosts this annual holiday market, featuring artisan wares from around the country and local restaurants to fuel long days of browsing. More than 85 merchants will be in attendance at this year’s event, serving up the giftable fruits of their labor in an extensive indoor orchard. Foodies can browse gourmet soup and cheese-ball mixes to find the right blend for a festive gathering or cozy autumn meal. Style-savvy clotheshorses will delight in the many boutique fashions on display for both adults and children, and accessory-hounds can follow their large, moist, quality-detecting noses to browse shoes, jewelry, and statement handbags. Holiday décor encourages patrons to deck the halls with autumn or winter wreaths, yard art, and handmade cloisonné ornaments. See the complete merchant list to prep your shopping list.

Proceeds from the market benefit the Junior League of San Antonio, whose members aim to promote volunteerism, support and develop the potential of women, and improve local communities through collective action. Since the Holiday Olé Market’s inception, the league has raised more than $1 million for local organizations
