Most children started school today in our area. What a memorable day for parents and kids! I remember getting dressed in my new outfit and taking pictures outside with my brother and sister under our pine tree on the first day. We were so excited about seeing our friends, wearing our new clothes and meeting our teachers. I know today a lot of parents had mixed emotions about their kiddos going off to school. Some started kindergarten for the first time, others growing up so fast we just don’t know whether to cry or go with it. Such an emotional time. And honestly, as a kid it never phased me that the first day of school might be a hard day for my mom and dad. Now that I am a parent and hear so many of my friends hearts, my views on first day of school have changed. Yes, still exciting and proud my child is entering the next phase of life, but how sad to think how quickly the time goes by.
I am in the middle of reading the book called Fearless, by Max Lucado. Highly recommend it! I came across a quote today of his that really spoke to me. I thought I would share with you as a lot of you have sent kiddos off for the first day of school.
“Feed your fears, and your faith will starve. Feed your faith, and your fears will starve.”
This is our chance as parents to faithfully pray for our kids. Pray for wisdom, boldness, good choices, new friends and a self confidence that allows them to blossom as they grow. If we stay faithful to our God our fears will wash away! Stand on the Rock and know that He is ALWAYS with us.

SOOOOO good Jamie!! I am so proud of my kids and moving onto the next phase in life, but it is a little sad to know that my babies aren’t babies anymore. Knowing the Lord is my rock will get me and my kids through every first day of the next year of school!!
